According to this article on the Huffington Post, poor health habits are linked with a 66% increased risk of loss in productivity. That is certainly a good reason for employers to care about your health!

“Total health-related employee productivity loss accounts for 77 percent of all such loss and costs employers two to three times more than annual healthcare expenses,” according to study researcher Ray Merrill, a health science professor at Brigham Young University.

Many employers are offering incentives and gym membership discounts because they know that less sick days means more work put in. Now there is proof that healthy living will make you work harder too!

Regular exercise and good nutrition will boost your energy levels, so this definitely makes sense. Many people have experienced this energy increase after losing weight through diet and exercise. More energy means more productivity at work!

There are many ways to sneak a little exercise into your day. When you’re watching your favorite nighttime drama on TV, do some exercise during the commercial breaks: jumping jacks, sit-ups, pelvic gyrations, and maybe even a little time running on your incline trainer treadmill.
